West End
The West End is known as one of the best places in the world for top-class theatre shows. The district’s name commonly refers to the wider area around Leicester Square, Soho and Covent Garden, taking in various other neighbourhoods. The 40 or so theatres in the vicinity have led to the nickname “Theatreland”, with shows such as Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera and The Book of Mormon all on offer.
Choose a West End hotel if you’re looking for a lively bar scene, while the variety of restaurants in close proximity means you can also enjoy a three-course meal or simply grab a pre-theatre bite to eat. Covent Garden is where you’ll find the Royal Opera House, a Grade I listed building and home of both The Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet.
